Description
When I was growing up a neighbor's child gave me a tiny cactus planted in a brandy snifter because she knew I liked plants. As we got older she was diagnosed with cancer and ironically the cactus bloom opened on the very day of her death. It had never bloomed before in at least 30 years. Here is an honor to her and the bloom.

Wow, an incredible story behind this beautiful work, when things like that happen I remind myself of miracles and there are no coincidences. I think there is connection going on way beyond a human's average mental scope. This is painted so well and you always maintain a wonderful painterly vitality in all your works Randy. Catus are another favorite for me although not native to New England. My partner opened my eyes to so many varieties in MX too, such an amazing flower here, beautifully painted, wow! plus! F/L
Rand Burns replied:

Very poignant story with this marvelous cactus flower image, Randy! Reminds me of the single rose that was blooming in my backyard in late November years ago the day a dear friend's mom died. Shouldn't have been blooming then. Found that intriguing. Thanks for sharing this beautiful painting and story! l/f
Rand Burns replied:
Marian, thank you for sharing this with me. Yes, this is a special cactus. It is really big now and blooms late summer. I hope it does this year as well. Smells like apples when the blooms open. Thank you for the F/L on this special image.

Flowers that bloom from a spiked cactus are so magical aren't they. Nice work, and thank you for your comment.
Rand Burns replied:
Yes they are Anne. It seems so strange that such a delicate flower could come from that spiked structure for sure. Thank you so much for your viewing my work and your comment also.
