The gooseneck garlic has fascinating buds, which resemble the beaks and head of a goose, or exotic white rare bird. The stems which attach to the buds twist and turn and often loop in complete circles. The mystery and unique quality of this plant are captured here as if coming out of a black darkness. Crimson and green are used instead of black giving the background the perception of depth.

The buds artfully escort the eye around the canvas, and I like that you have painted this plant in a night time setting, made rich with the use of the complementary colors. I do not have black paint in my palette, as mixing it adds such depth and luminosity. That certainly is the case in this beautiful painting!
