Description
***Featured in the group 'Geek Art And Funky Greeting Cards.***
Standing with pitchfork in hand, a sock monkey farmer seems to guard both his house and his wife who stares forward wearing a broach with a family member cameo. This sock monkey 'masterpiece' series is modeled after the works of great artists. This one, for example, is after 'American Gothic'. All of this series is honor of my sister who passed on. She loved the sock monkey and my art. I combined the two for her with love.

And now I read the story behind the sock monkey series. I, too, have discovered that painting through grief is one of the very best ways to heal from difficult situations. This tribute is so touching with its perfect combination of your sister's favorite toy and your artistic talents. FAV
Rand Burns replied:
By chance, my late sister's birthday was just yesterday on May 14th. Thank you for your visit and FAVE Anne.

Randy, no journey into your portfolio would be complete without studying the “The Sock Monkey” Series inspired by both your sister’s love of this toy and and your grief after her passing. I didn’t ever think anything would ever replace Grant Wood’s “American Gothic” visual of a two year period in my life I will never get back; however, THIS redeems it with the comic relief it deserves! Love, love, LOVE how your use of painted satire overcomes tragedy. Lf
Rand Burns replied:
I love this phrase: 'use of painted satire overcomes tragedy.' Thank you Laurel and for your honoring this special series. F/L.
