Painting - Watercolor And Color Penicl On Archer's Paper
Description
The brilliant color of a beebalm is difficult to surpass in the world of flowers. It is the ruling class of almost any other red flower. A hardy perennial, monarda didyma is a fragrant wildflower in the mint family. Not invasive (but who would care!), it shines through the summer months with its glowing color. In the background here is pictured just a hint of Silver King Artemesia, which sets off the red of this special wildflower. 24 20″ Watercolor and color pencil on Archers paper.

Randy this is sooo beautiful!!!!! I recognized the unique shape from your thumbnail and had to come visit full size. So glad I did. Fabulous detailing and shading and nuance in every brush stroke. You are a genius with watercolor!!!! We planted some purple bee balm in one of our little gardens last year. One made it and one didn't. We were told it liked wet feet, but I think with all the rain we've had these past few years, it was just too much for our poor little bee balm. Beautiful artwork ... now I know what to expect out of the remaining plant!!! l/f t and p
Rand Burns replied:
Lois, thank you for your comment on 'Monarchy Of Red'. I have the purple and love it. Yes, it does like somewhat wet feet. The red does more so. Good luck growing it. Thank you also for the F/L/T/P.
