Beautiful work, as always! The elm's bare branches reaching into the sky look amazing and leads me to hope the leaves will return in the spring (large elms being rare). l/f/t

Fine work Randy, the eye naturally drifts to the tree and rarely captures the cardinal which is often called a visiting angel in the garden.

Rand Burns replied:

I like your comment about a visiting angel in the garden Skip. You are right about the tree. This painting has a special significance.

I like that you chose to paint this tree undressed, so to speak, so its wonderful structure is revealed. We too often forget what props up what we usually admire. l/f

Rand Burns replied:

Yes, the props underneath. The structure fascinates me with things. You hit the nail on the head Gina. Thank you for the l/f.

I am enjoying so many elements in this painting, Randol! The shadow of another tree in the foreground, the golden amber tall grass, the winter trees and the wonderful red bird are a delight to view. And I really like the clouds in the background of the main tree .... they really highlight the strong dark silhouette of the branches. Verrrrrrry nice. :) l/f/p

Rand Burns replied:

Cheryl, thank you for your comment and for mentioning so many details about this work. This piece has a special significance about it and I think you picked up on it. Thank you y friend and for the l/f/p.

Each of your works deserves a comment because they are so good. This is my favourite for today. I love the fine dark lines of the tree against the light sky. Like cracks reaching upwards into the clouds. I love trees painted like this and you have done a excellent job with the composition and colours. Lovely work capturing a winters day.

Rand Burns replied:

Michael, as always your sincere comments give me encouragement to continue. This little painting has special meaning for me. I am happy you chose it today.

Gorgeous scene - love the autumn color grasses accenting the single red bird. v

Rand Burns replied:

I appreciate your wonderful comment Marcia. I love redbirds in landscape settings. The gold color grass is called sedge grass here.
