Of course with Halloween only a few days away I have to visit your remarkable Halloween gallery. The way you have highlighted the subjects is masterful as it makes the skull and jester jump right out of the painting. Boo!!!!!

A little on the dark side for me, but accomplished so well Randy.
Rand Burns replied:
I know. Sometimes I like the darker side for a spell, since life is a mixture of good and bad. Roses and thorns so to speak.
Marian Bell
Randy, this looks like it represents the "dark side" of Halloween, not the fun, impish ways of youth! This has a very dramatic feel to it, almost like he's contemplating how he got that skull....and maybe, what he plans to do with it! Well done, my friend! L/F!
Rand Burns replied:
Marian, thank you for your comment and for enjoying this creepy image for Halloween. I am glad you did. Thank you so much for the F/L here.
RC DeWinter
And l.f, dammit...LOL
Rand Burns replied:
Ha, thank you RC. From somewhere deep in my mind this image came alive. I love your mentioning a ceremony of remembrance relating to this small narrative.
RC DeWinter
Wonderfully grim fantasia. I imagine him as the brother of Yorick performing a ceremony of remembrance.
Henryk Gorecki

Some how I missed this incredible painting Randy! I don't find this spooky but for me, somewhat contemplative with a sense of sadness and longing. He is carrying the skull of a venerated person, a treasured relic.
Rand Burns replied:
Wow, Susan, you actually caught the very meaning I was hoping someone was see! This is wonderful and sadness and longing are correct. The skull a treasured relic...you are good!
Linda Howes
Scary and Awesome Randy, love the face and his eyes and how his body fades! Very cool! l/f
Richard Wandell
Wow, Randy, this is really quite a departure from previous paintings you've done. It's a wonderful composition and I particularly like the part about a wanderer carrying his own stars. Most intriguing.
Rand Burns replied:
Richard, thank you and happy you like this bit of different painting. Dark and melancholy is part of life too and I'm no afraid to announce it. Hope you are doing well.
Gloria Ssali
