Failure: Brutal and cold, but I was much younger then. A BFA and then to a Master's Degree, or so I thought. 10 denials from graduate schools proved it was not meant to be. Hoping this may help a young artist who may be in such a situation: PAINT MAN. PAINT. It has not been an easy road and I can say now that self taught is truly the best teacher. Create what is in your heart and not what you are told or dictated. Themes are wonderful, but do not feel it necessary to have particular style even when you are told this. Paint from the soul and this will come forth. It has not been an easy road, but it has been a determined road. Never give up and never think the goal as money or degrees. It is not about either, but about the passion and the love for the gift...develop it and be true to the self. God had other plans from me. He may have other plans for you.
