Painting - Acyrlic On Canvas
Description
***Featured in the group Out Of The Ordinary on 09/22/2014. Thank you very much for the feature Lyric Lucas.***
In the old days a leper was required to carry wooden rattles to warn others of his approach. Here a leper appears from the shadows awaiting his rattles, which rest on a sawn tree trunk. Though this painting is informative, it also shows the beauty around us even in the middle of pain and suffering, albeit subdued in this painting.

Excellent job portraying the beauty around us, Randy! Sometimes we need to be reminded of it, like when grieving the loss of a dear one! Wonderful artwork! L/F

Your description if this inspired and amazing painting leaves me without words, Randy!!! The shadow of the leper standing their is riveting because you can see that he's alone out their in the barren but beautiful wilderness. The dead tree stumps lining the road seem to reveal his inner feelings of hopelessness about being a leper... Your compassion and sensitivity as an artist is wonderfully inspiring, my friend! L/F
Rand Burns replied:

Well you certainly have acheived what you set out to accomplish Randy.....and I love a painting with a nice story to back it up with..............nice touch with the ambiguous shadow .........sometimes Less is More !!!................lovely............Jean !!!

Ahhh; Randy love the solitude informativeness and delicatness of the brush on this one.....Not so keen on its concept though...What people had to endure of times gone by.....? Sad...!!!
Rand Burns replied:
Jean, Thank you so, so much. It is amazing what people had to endure, especially in the old days. When I learned about the leper's rattle I felt such sympathy for the lepers I had to paint this. Tried to make the surroundings subtle, yet beautiful in a down-toned way.
