***Featured in the "Out Of The Ordinary 1 A Day Group" on 06/13/2015. Thank you very much Lyric Lucas.***
Resembling a castle, this famous rock structure is filled with crevices, and golden ochre textures revealing the workings of nature over time. Sunlit by the desert's light, its mystery is accentuated.

Many years ago my family took a cross country trip driving from Mobile to San Francisco area to see relatives. While going through the desert my mom looked off to the side and claimed to have seen a castle off in the distance. We thought she was kidding, but maybe not. Perhaps this was what she saw! Beautifully painted with such dramatic clouds overhanging this remarkable scenery, Randy! L/F
Rand Burns replied:
I hope this was the rock formation she saw. It possibly could have been. Thank you for sharing this story and for your comment here Marian. I appreciate the F/L always.

Rand Burns replied:
Jimmy, I thank you for saying your kind words about my desert scenes from imagination. They were my first subject to paint as soon as I could hold a brush as a child. Thank you also for the F/L.

Randy,I have never used a palette knife, and so am interested to see that you use one here with wonderful skill. This picture has the warm colors and spacious landscape that I associate with so much of your work.It is hot, powerful, timeless ,atmospheric and cooled by another of your magnificent cloudy skies. An altogether marvelous view! L/F
Rand Burns replied:
Jane, it is always so nice hearing from you. It is always such a pleasure reading your description of any of my paintings. Yes, the palette knife is fun to use. There is so much freedom in it with all that thick paint. It always reminds me of cake icing. I guess i just love paint! Hoping your world is good and you are finding time to create your wonderful masterpieces. Thank you once again Jane...and for the L/F!
John Alexander

Excellent work Randy. I never know if your paintings are from real life or your imagination. I like the floral bush on the left.
Rand Burns replied:
Thank you Michael. It is always great hearing from you. I do work mostly from imagination and prefer that over photographs. I might use them as a reference only, but enjoy adding my own interpretation. The bush on the left is probably a yucca. I like those too.
