Description
***Featured in the group Out Of The Ordinary on 04/02/2015. Thank you very much Lyric Lucas.***
Not the most obvious object in the painting, this tiny fly sits patiently on one of the large white moonflowers. The scent of the fish has attracted it. Several opposites are depicted here-The sweet scent of the flowers, the foul odor of the fish and death and life combined. A whirling movement is suggested by the vine and its circular pattern around the composition. We are temporarily part of this world. viewing the beauty and the nature of life.

At first glance this is a magnificent still life painting that promote beauty, but as i look deeper, i see this is a painting about duality and extreme contrast. life vs death, fragrance vs odor, soft fragile petals vs rough hard scales, all being portrayed within a wreath of vine, the circle of life. Wow Randy what a deep and thoughtful painting, i enjoyed the little journey of going deep into it very much!! L/F

Randy,YES, this is a masterpiece!! The fly is so ominous. The combination of sweet beauty and noxious decay served in such a wonderful fashion. It reminds me of the Dutch masters who painted huge tables filled with fruit, fowl and flowers.Your discription makes you pause and reflect.F/V Susan
Rand Burns replied:
