Randy, I have heard it said that the curse of a long life well lived is the pain of Losses. In you, she has the mirroring of her eyes softened by the spiritual Flow of beauty. In you, she sees the strength of her set, accepting jaw and lip lines lift in the softened curves of one who knows the Alchemical secret of transmuting pain into joyful Hope... by allowing the Wounds of Light to colour the Darkness of the world ...one brushstroke at a time!... Yes, she is blessed to have YOU as her son. It is obvious you love her very much. May you both continue to walk in the Peace that passes all understanding. Beautiful tribute, Randy.
Rand Burns replied:
Laurel, thank you for your insightful comment on my mother's portrait. Yes, I do love her very much. Only with God's help have we both been able to keep going. He is our strength. Your comment means so much.

With great sadness and sorrow, I learned of the death of your family members from your description of the image of your great mother ... May God have mercy on your deceased family, and keeping them in Paradise, and helped you patience and solace. "We belong to God and to Him we shall return".
Rand Burns replied:
Only with God's help has it been possible to get through all the losses we have experienced. You are so right Mohammad. "We belong to God and to Him we shall return". Sometimes I just stare into space wishing to see them all. God and my art (His gift to me) keep me going. My mother loves God in heaven and has a tremendously strong faith. It is just my mother and myself now. Thank you for sharing your kind caring and support and happy you enjoyed my mother's portrait.

Such strength and fortitude your mom must have to be able to deal with so many losses! I can see a sense of sadness in her eyes, but an ability to hold her head up and keep living her life in spite of it. God gives her that, and gives it to you, too!
